The FutureGov side event on Public Sector Transformation will be held on 8 April 2025 in New York, as part of the 24th Session of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA). The session is co-hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).
The event will spotlight practical experiences and achievements in transforming public institutions at the global, regional, and national levels. It will serve as a milestone to reflect on progress since the launch of the FutureGov initiative and to explore bold, forward-looking approaches to public sector transformation.
Rooted in the “3Is approach”—Inclusion, Integrity, and Innovation—the event will explore how these core principles can strengthen governance, improve public service delivery, and respond more effectively to emerging challenges. The event will also emphasize the critical role of partnerships, highlighting collaboration among regional partners, development agencies, national governments, and international financial institutions that can drive sustainable reform efforts.
A keynote address by Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, Chair of CEPA, will set the tone for the discussion by underscoring the importance of public sector transformation and the role of partnerships in driving and sustaining reform efforts. Panelists will explore country and regional experiences, including Ethiopia’s public sector transformation journey, the role of regional cooperation through the Astana Civil Service Hub, and the World Bank’s insights on development partnerships to support public sector transformation.
A key moment of the event will be the official launch of “FutureGov.org,” a knowledge-sharing platform that offers tools, case studies, and AI-driven insights to support public sector transformation globally. The platform is supported by the UN Peace and Development Trust Fund (UNPDF).
The event will conclude with a Q&A session and closing reflections, including Bhutan’s experience in promoting inclusion within public sector institutions.
The FutureGov side event on Public Sector Transformation is expected to generate fresh insights and renewed momentum in advancing inclusive, accountable, and future-ready governance systems worldwide.
