The way public institutions communicate has a major impact on the quality of public debate, openness, participation, trust and, as a result, the overall quality of governance. How can public communication become a force for inclusion and cooperation in today’s polarized world?
UNDP is excited to announce the launch of a new initiative, the Atlas of Innovation in Public Communication, that will contribute to answering that question.
The Atlas has three goals: (i) map innovations, (ii) give visibility to it, and (iii) foster a community of innovative practices in the field. Through a global mapping effort, we seek to spotlight practices that are redefining how institutions communicate In particular, we are looking to explore how institutions are reimagining communication in order to:
- Make complex information more accessible
- Bring marginalized voices into the public debate
- Build common ground on divisive issues
- Strengthen public trust
- Maximize the impact of new formats and technologies
Public sector entities, are invited to submit their most innovative experiences and ideas. Media, and communication practitioners are also invited to submit experiences provided that these experiences are based on partnership with the public sector.
The application form can be submitted via the link on the website. The deadline for submission is 10 December 2025. For any questions please contact hannah.hoelscher@undp.org
